Lea C. Whitney M.A., Marketing & Outreach Manager
Lea is the firm’s Marketing and Outreach Manager. In her role, she manages the social media, digital and non-digital marketing aspects of the law firm as well as supports the staff and law firm on business growth strategies and best practices for streamlining technology and communications. As the caregiver and legal co-guardian to her 34-old-year sister who has Down syndrome, Lea understands special needs planning from both the sibling and caregiving perspectives.
Before joining Clancy & Associates, Ltd., Lea worked for 10 years in marketing, communications and IT. Eight of those years were in banking and supervision/regulation at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where she worked as a Marketing and Communications Analyst then made a career move to become an IT Business Operations Analyst. In both roles, she gained valuable experience in bridging the gap between the business line/customer through strategic planning and developing extensive project management skills, while managing multiple websites for a department of 500.
Prior to working at the “Fed”, she managed events and promoted awareness of autism at the Autism Society of Illinois in Lombard, IL. She also implemented her site as a permanent job site for the local Glenbard School Transition students and received an award from Glenbard District 87 for her work.
Lea graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Eastern Illinois University. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago, with specializations in website design, content management and HTML. She wrote her graduate thesis on “Understanding Why Illinois is Ranked 51st for Providing Funding and Services to Adults with Developmental Disabilities living in Housing,” based off a 2008 States of the States report. As a journalist, she was always drawn to stories about the developmentally disabled and has always aspired to find more meaningful work, which she found at Clancy & Associates, Ltd.
Lea loves to swim, read books, and spend time with her husband, two daughters and dog Bella. Lea also enjoys putting website accessibility practices in place to ensure all websites are compliant and accessible for the needs of every individual.
