Participating in your child’s IEP meeting can be an overwhelming experience. We know because we, too, have sat at the IEP table as concerned parents, wondering if we have secured every possible resource for our own children.
IEP meetings don’t have to be intimidating and stressful. Our team can guide you through the maze of steps from eligibility to completion of a successful plan. Our Education Attorney, Jennifer A. Sabourin, began her career as a special education teacher, and prior to joining the firm, served as school administrator where she worked in multiple school districts across the Chicagoland area. She understands unique learners and the tools they need to succeed and knows the inventory of services and programs that school districts can provide. As an Attorney, Jennifer will advocate for your child to ensure his or her needs are being met with all possible school resources. Jennifer's areas of specialty include: reviewing data to make research-based decisions on educational interventions; summarizing outside diagnoses and relating the implications to educationally-based practices, making recommendations to staff; reviewing transition plans and IEP documents to ensure your child’s individual needs are met vs. your child being put into a one-size fits all system; problem-solving behavior challenges; and presenting “out of the box” ideas. Jennifer is collaborative and focused on the best result for your child – she is skilled at bringing teams together, even when they have differing opinions -- so that the real work can begin. Some questions you may ask yourself:
We will ensure that your child’s plan contains customized, appropriate goals and the specific programming, therapy, and services. We will monitor progress through regular communication and goal updates and ensure follow through and compliance. Be assured that our team is at your side as you navigate your child’s unique education. |
